New Year’s resolutions

I was on the radio this morning talking about New Year’s resolutions and flow. These two things are VERY intertwined and here’s why:

If you make a resolution by saying “I hope this year”, “I believe this year”, “I want this year to be”, etc. you may not be making such a resolution in flow. You are simply making an “intellectual” statement without any backing.

Let me give you an example. My flow is to not be an accountant. I did poorly in school in accounting classes and to this day it frustrates me. So if I made a New Year’s resolution to “be a great accountant this year” I would be fooling myself and creating flow blockages. It just is not my flow.

Or take losing weight, the ultimate resolution. Everyone says they are going to join the gym or go on a diet but few succeed at doing either. Why? Because there is something else going on unrelated to the weight that is ultimately causing the weight. A client of mine was a perfect example. He lost a lot of weight over the past few years but suddenly gained 20 lbs. back in December. It had nothing to do with the holidays and everything to do with a flow blockage he had created – his body immediately reacted to him “being off course” with the weight gain.

So New Year’s resolutions are great, but if you’re serious about them make sure you are working within flow to accomplish them. If you do, all your dreams will come true and a whole lot more!
